What if I don't make any sales?
You pay nothing. Zero. We only earn our 8% when you make a sale. There are no monthly fees, no listing fees, no setup costs. There's literally no risk to listing on Kapsule.
How is Kapsule different from just having my own website?
Your own website means you handle all your own marketing. On Kapsule you get a built-in audience of NZ shoppers already looking to buy, plus our weekly email campaigns, social posts, and vendor spotlights, all included in the 8%. Most vendors run both: Kapsule for reach, their own site for brand.
Can I sell on Kapsule AND Trade Me?
Absolutely. Most of our vendors sell in multiple places. Kapsule works alongside your existing channels: Trade Me, Facebook Marketplace, your own website. Use Shopify sync and your products stay in lockstep across all of them.
How quickly will I get my first sale?
Most vendors with quality photos and competitive pricing make their first sale within two weeks. Our marketing team actively features new vendors in the Tuesday email campaign and we pick a fresh vendor every Thursday for the spotlight, so new arrivals get a head start.
Do I need a registered business?
No. Sole traders and hobbyists are welcome. You just need a NZ bank account for weekly payouts. If your annual turnover exceeds $60,000 NZ tax law requires you to register for GST. That's between you and IRD, not us.
What does the 8% cover?
8% platform fee plus Stripe payment processing (2.9% + $0.30 per order). That's everything. No monthly subscription, no listing fees, no setup costs, no per-product fees. We only earn when you earn.
How do payouts work?
Earnings are paid to your NZ bank account every Tuesday once the clearance window closes. New vendors start at a 21-day hold after delivery. Established Vendors clear at 14 days. Trusted Vendors clear at 7 days, the fastest in NZ. Your tier is set automatically based on tenure, completed orders, dispatch reliability, and dispute record. Minimum payout $20. You can track every transaction in your vendor dashboard.
How long does setup take?
Most vendors are live within 20 minutes from the moment they're approved. You need product photos, descriptions, and your NZ bank account details. No technical skills required.
How long does approval take?
We review every vendor application personally. Most are approved within 24 hours. As soon as you're in, you can list products and we start marketing you immediately.
Who handles shipping?
You ship directly to customers. NZ Post is fully integrated. Generate courier labels, compare rates, and offer live shipping costs at checkout, all from your Kapsule dashboard. CourierPost and ParcelPost both supported nationwide.
What kind of products can I sell?
Most physical products that comply with NZ law: handmade items, vintage goods, art, clothing, food, homewares, electronics, sports gear, kids and baby products, pet supplies, beauty, supplements, the lot. Check our Prohibited Items page for the full exclusion list.
